Membership and Social Meetings

Texana has various meetings, training activities and social events for our members. Guests are always welcome. These are usually held once a quarter, have different themes and are held at different locations and times. Please contact kathy.ogle@swbell.net for information about our next meeting.

Texana would like to thank Tom Bristow who generously donates his time and resources by taking care of our chuckwagon!
Thank you Tom!

TEXAS HISTORY ALIVE!

Each year Texana presents our annual premiere event called TEXAS HISTORY ALIVE! We feature many of our Characters and provide a wide array of Pioneer Life-Skills and Craft Demonstrations at our largest Event Campsite of the year. The 2013 TEXAS HISTORY ALIVE! is presented by Texana Living History Association and the A. W. Perry Homestead Museum and will be open to the general public. However, Girl Scouts may earn credit toward badge work. This is a great opportunity for learning about Texas history in a fun environment with lots of hands-on experiences and make-and-take crafts. Event patch and GS badge activities will be available.

TEXAS HISTORY ALIVE!
Saturday, April 13, 2013
Noon - 5:00 pm (Rain or Shine)

This event requires a lot of volunteers and we are fortunate to have the participation of many additional living history organizations from the area at this event. However, we always need extra hands. Please contact us if you would like to be a part of TEXAS HISTORY ALIVE!

Current Projects

We are now in the process of updating our website!
Kim Weldon, Bob Welch and other Board Members have been working to update our Web Site. It is still under construction. However, we hope to have the basics finished in a few weeks. It will probably take 4-5 months to finish out the details. In the mean time, I would like for each of our performers (including composite camp characters) to please write a short bio of yourselves that can be included on the site. You may send finished Bio's to kathy.ogle@swbell.net .

We have been fortunate in the past to communicate with many descendants of our favorite Texans as well as professional and amateur Historians.   They have provided us with many wonderful anecdotal stories and little known facts that would otherwise be unavailable to us.  We value that information and believe this type of knowledge is what makes it possible for us to bring these wonderful Texans to life for Texans of today.  We would love to hear from you!

Biographies needed: Leander McNelly, Sukey Boyd, Juan Seguin, Minerva Miller, Sarah McClure, Margret Beeman Bryan, and Sarah Cockrell.

We appreciate your support!
