Eugenie Aubanel Lavender,
Pioneer Artist (1817-1898)
Eugenie Aubanel Lavender was a French-born artist who
immigrated in 1852 to Texas. She wanted to paint the unique flora and fauna
found here. She and her family experienced adventures with wild animals, prairie
fires, floods, and Indian raids. She learned to mix her own paints from colored
plant juices and clay. At age 75 she was still painting and teaching art.
Cindy Vaillancourt , a
freelance artist of today brings this 19th century artist to life.
Cindy also portrays Lizzie Johnson, the
first female Rancher in Texas.
